"When the woman saw that the fruit was good for food... she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate." Genesis 3:6
"I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man... for it was Adam who was first created and then Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived fell into transgression." 1 Timothy 2:12-14
Our gender roles are not part of the curse God put on man after the fall, but rather part of His perfect design. One of the reasons that Adam and Eve fell into transgression was because both of them stepped out of their gender roles. Eve decided that she would lead herself and as a result was deceived and sinned, and Adam stepped out of his role and followed his deceived wife right into sin as well.
We must acknowledge the extreme importance of our roles, because the consequences are more sever than we think. Can you imagine if during a play , the actors just decided to switch roles? That would be a disaster because neither of them know the other part. If this happened during a play we would be confused and mark off their actions as strange and ridiculous. So why can't we see how strange and ridiculous this is in our own lives?
